“The Chromatics” is a 2.5D platformer game. In the game, the players can switch color with the environment and stick to the object with the same color, and they need to use this ability to solve puzzles.
April.2014 – May.2014
This is a project for Game Studio class. I chose color as my core mechanic at the very beginning, but took a a long time to decide the mechanic. At that time my girl friend and I could hardly find a cooperative game to play together, not genres of shooting, fighting, etc. So for this project, I intended to make a local co-op puzzle platformer, using color-switching as the main mechanic. So there would be two players, each could interact with warm or cold color. And they need to help each other to solve puzzles. Because of time limit, I didn’t complete the multiplayer part yet, but the single player is also fun.
The graphic of this game has changed a lot since early iteration. At first I used 2D, but later I discovered the Low-poly style, which looked really fancy, and elegant. So I learned to create Low poly graphic work with Cinema 4D.
